Klinkers en medeklinkers (vowels and consonants)

Klinkers (vowels) are the following characters:

a, o, u, e, i

When you pronounce a word with a short sound, you write 1 vowel. If the word has a long sound, write 2 vowels. The letter y is also often used as a vowel, but can also be a consonant, for example in yogurt.

Medeklinkers (consonants) are the following characters:

b, c, d, f, g, h, j, k, l, m, n, p, q, r, s, t, v, w, x, z

Together with the vowels they form the alphabet. Don’t know exactly what the last letter of a word is? Then make the word longer. You can hear from the pronunciation which letter the word ends with.
